Rules and Regulations
• All participants must register for
the Muy Grande Deer Contest BEFORE harvesting animal in order to be
eligible for the contest. Absolutely no exceptions.
• Registration is $20.00 per hunter

is $21.00 per hunter.
• Registered youth entries must be 16 years old or younger.
• A hunter is considered registered for the Muy Grande Deer Contest at
the exact date that he/she registered and payment is received.
• All registered hunters are eligible to win only one category unless
hunter has animals that qualify him/her for other categories.
• All registered hunters must comply with the rules and regulations set
forth by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
• In the event that a registered hunter is unable to bring their harvest
to the Muy Grande Deer Contest to be scored, score sheets from certified
TBGA scorers will be accepted.
• All score sheets and photographs of registered entries and their
harvested animal become the property of the Muy Grande Deer Contest and
may be used for future promotions.
• Only registered hunters living or land owners in Duval County
throughout the year are eligible for the Mr/Miss Duval County
categories. Adult male/female and youth male/female qualify for these 2
categories.
• Every animal must be field dressed (no heart, liver, etc) in order for
the weight to be used for scoring.
• No trapped, penned, brood, or tagged bucks!!
• The spread is determined by measuring the outside of the main beams.
• Points: one inch or longer.
• In order for a deer to be considered for the Muy Grande All-Around
Categories, the deer must be weighed at the Muy Grande Village Scales.
No exceptions.
• The Muy Grande Deer Contest reserves the right to substitute prizes of
equal or greater value.
• All shipping costs will be paid by the winner if his/her awards are
shipped.
• Husband & Wife Category means that the husband and wife are legally
married and not a common law marriage.
• On the Open Division Slick 6, 7, 8, & 9 Point Category, the buck must
be a slick, typical buck. No abnormal points.
• Leaders in the Youngest Most Successful Hunter Category must harvest a
buck and have a video kill.
• Macho Grande Category - This category is for tagged deer only. Top Ten
Winners for Typical Net & Top Ten Winners for Non Typical Gross must be
tagged deer only. Leaders/Winners may be male, female, or youth. If any
Top Ten Leader of the Macho Grande Category has been beaten out, they
may be moved to the 150+, 160+, 170+, 180+, 190+, 200+ Categories. They
may not lead in other categories as those categories are for native
whitetail deer only.
• Hunters must be a licensed hunter in the state of Texas, Mexico or
other state if in Out of State Category.
• For the Muy Grande All-Around Categories, the formula is as follows:
